Concerns around the alcohol consumption of children

BBC Radio 5, after a Freedom on Information request, found thast more than 6,500 under 18s had been taken to hospital with an alcohol related illness.  Nearly 300 children under the age of 11 years were admitted to casualty units across the country after drinking too much.  The 5 NHS Trusts with the highest rate of admissions were in Western and North East Scotland and in South Wales.  The findings highlighted the great pressure on parents to provide their children with alcohol for sleepovers and parties and pointed out the effect of parents own alcohol consumption on their children.
